Wirecast allows you to queue up video clips ahead of time to play during the program, or display the Powerpoint slides or insert graphics during the presentation. Using Wirecast on the Mac, the PC laptop’s HDMI video output to a Magewell video digitizer, can stream live to the internet. These apps can be used for live switching between the presenter’s on-stage Windows laptop running PowerPoint, and the MacBook Pro Retina behind the stage running the videos. Current video live streaming standards are typically 720P, with support up to 1080P. Program video and audio is output to a Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder or Magewell HDMI USB digitizer, then to a MacBook Pro Retina running Wirecast for live video streaming to YouTube, Facebook Live or whatever network you are streaming to. Many popular services need 4mbps for a good, viewable live stream. When testing using Speed Test, if you have an upload speed of at least 5mbps, you should be good to stream. ![]() Ideally there is a wired ethernet internet access at the event site. The video from the switcher needs to be digitized by computer using a Magewell HDMI to USB digitizer or a Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder connected via Thunderbolt, then live streamed using Wirecast or OBS on a Mac or PC to Facebook Live, YouTube Live, Vimeo, or whatever streaming source you use. To do a live stream, you need to have an event with one video camera, or a live switched video mix of cameras, movies, graphics, PowerPoint or Keynote slides, arranged and mixed as the final program output video.
